Abstract

This text refers to my studies degree thesis which I find myself doing for the University Degree in Physical Education (LUEF) in the Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences (FaHCE) of the National University La Plata (UNLP). While passed the period studied in the University Teaching in Physical Education (PUEF), more specifically from admission to the course, I have observed the problem of students who attend the axes swimming 1 and 2 in the subjects Physics 2 Education and 3 in the second and third year of the existing curriculum (2000) compared to an older plan (1984), a large number of trainees disapprove existing committees; I asked myself then is: what is the problem that many students disapprove of these axes? Based on that I decided to investigate this issue, to see if the problem are students, teachers, content, theory and practice, teaching methods, previous knowledge, evaluation, etc. That is, the teaching and learning in general aspects. Depending on what I consider previously developed in my thesis, I could not miss a chapter of the history of swimming in the city of La Plata. This is the first chapter of the thesis, in which I describe in a socio-historical tour creating the city of La Plata, I detail how and why they emerged the first sports clubs with their own swimming pools in the city. Particularized on the creation of the UNLP and how it has come to be incorporated into the PUEF FaHCE. And finally, the story incorporating Swimming axis in the curriculum as likewise in the subjects Physics 2 Education 3. Describe the cultural and socio-historical context is important to understand the cause and circumstances of the incorporation of the swimming in the PUEF. Methodologically I bow down by qualitative and quantitative research where data collection will be conducted through surveys, interviews and field observations. Likewise, other sources such as curricula, laws or legislation, bibliographic material will be analyzed. Finally, try to triangulate the data collected in the field work in order to arrive at any conclusions and answer my question.
